Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, maintaining robust internal controls, and ensuring strict statutory compliance. The successful candidate must be a self-driven professional capable of maintaining financial integrity and managing reporting timelines independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash flow projections.
• Manage the end-toend calculation, filing, and timely submission of all statutory obligations.
• Oversee monthly payroll execution, ensuring proper allocation and remittance of levies and other remittances.
• Cooperate in producing fiscal reporting indicators required for financial services and bureau auditing frameworks.
• Coordinate internal and external audit processes and implement internal controls to prevent financial discrepancies.
• Manage company liquidity, monitor accounts payable/receivable, and authorize payments for executive sign-off.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
• Professional qualification of advanced progression in a globally recognized accounting program.
• Active, valid registration in good standing with a recognized professional accountancy body.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a senior financial or accounting role.
• Proven proficiency in advanced accounting software.
• Strong working knowledge of Malawian tax laws, the Malawi Employment Act, and IFRS standards.
