Malawians who have been questioning why their mobile data disappears so quickly may finally get answers soon.
The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) says it has launched investigations into the the rapid depletion of bundles on TNM and Airtel Malawi networks.
In a Public notice, The regulator said it has taken note of complaints from consumers regarding how quickly their mobile data bundles are being used up.
According to MACRA, the investigation will assess the operators’ data charging and billing systems, usage records and the accuracy of data deductions from customers’ bundles.
The authority said the exercise is aimed at establishing the factors contributing to the concerns raised by consumers and determining whether any regulatory intervention is necessary.
MACRA has encouraged consumers who have experienced unusually rapid depletion of their data bundles to report their cases to the regulator through [email protected] or the toll-free number 261.
Consumers have also been asked to provide supporting information, where available, including bundle purchase notifications, data usage alerts, screenshots, dates and times of incidents and any other relevant records that could assist the investigation.
