Eight junior police officers have been promoted following their role in the successful rescue of British national Nasrat Osman in Blantyre.
Malawi Police Service Inspector General Richard Chikoko Luhanga announced the promotions while recognising the officers for their contribution to the operation.
Each of the eight officers has also received K1 million as a token of appreciation for their work.
Osman, 47, was abducted in the Mount Pleasant area of Blantyre on September 11, 2026, before being rescued during a police operation in the city.
Luhanga commended the officers for their dedication, bravery, resilience and professionalism during the operation.
He congratulated the officers on their promotions and urged other members of the Malawi Police Service to emulate their commitment to duty.
