Mighty Wanderers are heading into Sunday’s CAF Champions League clash against Simba SC believing they have found the answers needed to overturn a first-leg deficit.
The Nomads trail 1-0 from the first leg in Lilongwe and must win at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam to keep their Champions League campaign alive.
Interim coach McDonald Mtetemera said the team has spent the week studying the first-leg defeat and believes they are now better prepared for the return encounter.
“We have analysed the game we played in Lilongwe. We have trained adequately and we are confident that victory is imminent on Stitlesayunday,” Mtetemera told journalists in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
Vice-captain Felix Zulu has also dismissed concerns about playing away, saying the Nomads are accustomed to hostile environments and will draw confidence from the support of Malawian fans in Tanzania.
“We have played away games before and in front of large crowds. We will also have support from our fans here in Tanzania. We know what is at stake and we are not shaken,” Zulu said.
Wanderers, however, will be without defender Alex Kambilinya and striker Blessings Mwalilino, who have both been ruled out through injury.
The Nomads have also received a morale boost from Blue Eagles, who wished the team well ahead of the crucial encountetitlesaylir.
Blue Eagles are scheduled to face Wanderers in the first-round finale of the FDH Bank Premiership.
“Carry the Malawi flag with honour,” Blue Eagles wrote on their official Facebook page.
Wanderers need to overturn the 1-0 deficit against the Tanzanian giants to advance to the next round.
