St. Luke’s College of Health Sciences appoints new Principal

The Board of Governors of St. Luke’s College of Health Sciences has appointed Gift Kalichero as the new Principal of the institution.

Kalichero holds a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the College of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery from Mzuzu University. 

His areas of specialization include Nursing and Midwifery Care, Health Education and Research, Leadership and Governance, and Public Health (Epidemiology).

He has more than 15 years of experience in health service delivery, teaching, research, and academic leadership. 

His professional background includes service as a Registered Nurse Midwife in the Ministry of Health, Lecturer and Deputy Principal at Trinity College of Health Sciences, and Senior Research Officer at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES).

Speaking during a general assembly with staff and students, Kalichero emphasized the importance of discipline and professionalism across the College community.

He urged both students and members of staff to maintain a high level of discipline and professionalism at all times.

He further reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the institution through the implementation of the College’s strategic plan.

“I am committed to implementing the College Strategic Plan and working with all stakeholders to take St. Luke’s College of Health Sciences forward to greater heights,” he said.

The Board Chair of St Luke’s College of Health Sciences Professor Angela Chimwaza expressed confidence in Kalichero’s leadership and has called upon staff and students to support him as he leads the College into a new chapter of growth and development.
