Speaker of Parliament opens PSC Leadership Development Program in South Africa

Speaker of Malawi Parliament, Sameer Suleman, took the official opening of the Leadership Development Program for the Malawi Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) in Sandton South Africa.

In his words, Suleman applauded commissioners for their curiosity and enthusiasm and further encouraged them to approach a leadership development program with dedication.

He highlighted that the training will equip the commissioners to deliver effectively and strengthen competence as they serve Malawi’s Parliament.

Hosted by Southern Africa Development Institute (SADI), the training commenced on 22nd January 2026 and will end on 31st January 2026. 

“The training is timely and set to propagate leadership qualities that will result in effective policy triangulation” Suleman said.

During the previous sitting, Parliament confirmed Blantyre city Soche zingwangwa MP Penjani Kalua, Karonga town constituency Daniel Chitonya, Beatrice Mwale MP for Kasungu north, Ismail Mkumba MP for Blantyre Ndirande Malabada Nyambadwe, and Chifundo Makande MP for Balaka Rivirivi to be commissioners of Parliament Services.

According to section 6 of the Parliamentary Service Act, the PSC is responsible for determining the size and organisation, and establishment of posts of the parliamentary service, determining conditions of service of members of parliament and staff.

The PSC is also in charge of appointing, confirming, and promoting employees in the Parliamentary Service.
