Following the bodybuilding competition that took place at Minyowe Villa on Friday, Victor Chimwaza emerged as the winner of the Mr Zomba Body Building Champion title.
Chimwaza won the title after defeating Harris Kasambala, who was Mr. Zomba for the 2024/2025 year. As the winner, he received K200,000.
Speaking after winning the competition, Chimwaza said his secret was self-belief and good preparation.
He said that he had competed twice before and had always finished in second place, which motivated him to work harder this year.
Chimwaza, who plans to compete in the Mr Malawi Body Builder competition, said he is confident that he will perform well.
“I would like to thank Bright Limani, who organizes the Mr Zomba Body Builder competition every year, because this has helped young people to build strong bodies,” he said.
Speaking earlier, the competition organizer Bright Limani said he was satisfied with how the Mr Zomba Body Building competition went this year.
However, despite being happy with how the competition turned out, Limani complained about the small amount of prize money the contestants received, saying this was due to having fewer sponsoring companies this year.
One of the officials who supported the competition, Gustino Sipiliano from Namadzi Bottlers, said this year’s competition impressed them, and that this would encourage them to support it again next year.
Other sponsors of the competition included Kips, the Member of Parliament for Zomba North Bester Awali, and Namadzi Bottlers.
