…wants Chinguwo heard
A cryptic Facebook post made by former Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) Director General Daud Suleman on the day of the 2024 plane crash has landed before the parliamentary inquiry.
On June 10, 2024, Suleman posted: “Ndinu mafana owaza. Azinzanga, chonde musadzafe. Win this week. Hustle harder.”
While people linked the post to the plane crash, Suleman has told the Ad Hoc Committee that the message had nothing to do with the missing aircraft.
He says the words were lyrics from a song he likes and had used on Facebook before, including in a May 15, 2024 post.
Suleman says the June 10 message was not intended to communicate anything about the aircraft, its location or any impending event.
He has asked the committee to examine his earlier social media activity before drawing conclusions about the post.
“My purpose is not to avoid scrutiny, but to ensure that my conduct is assessed based on evidence and actual circumstances known at that time rather than conclusions drawn retrospectively,” he says.
Meanwhile, Suleman has told the committee that UK-based Malawian Madalitso Chinguwo has repeatedly alleged that he orchestrated and masterminded the crash.
Suleman wants Chinguwo brought before the committee, saying he has information that could help establish the truth surrounding the accident.
