Lilongwe took to two wheels as cyclists turned a routine ride into a call for healthier lives and a cleaner environment.
The rally, held as part of the annual Seva Pakhwada activities, brought together participants who used cycling to promote physical activity and highlight the environmental cost of fuel-powered transport.
The India High Commission in Malawi organised the event, with India’s High Commissioner to Malawi, Amararam Gujar, saying cycling can bring communities together while promoting healthier and more sustainable lifestyles.
Gujar said bicycles remain one of the simplest forms of sustainable transport because they require no fuel and produce no direct emissions during use.
“Cycling is not just an activity, but a way of promoting personal health, protecting the environment and building a sustainable future,” Gujar said.
Participant Hemant Gupta encouraged people to make cycling part of their daily routines, saying it can improve physical wellbeing while helping protect the environment.
The annual Seva Pakhwada cycling rally is part of efforts by the Indian mission to promote healthy living and environmental awareness in Malawi.
