Fed Steel Engineering, one of Malawi’s leading manufacturers of school desks and customised steel products, has reaffirmed its commitment to producing and supplying high-quality school furniture to both private and government schools across the country and beyond.
The company’s Director, Fedson Selwin, made the remarks in Blantyre on Friday during an Independent Schools Association of Malawi (ISAMA) divisional meeting.
The meeting brought together private school owners, directors and principals to discuss ways of promoting and improving standards in private schools.
Selwin said Fed Steel Engineering is dedicated to ensuring that schools use well-designed and durable desks, tables, bunk beds and other steel products that can withstand long-term use.
“As a company, our wish is to make sure that schools are using quality and durable furniture that adds value to the learning environment,” Selwin said.
He expressed concern that some private schools are still using substandard desks and chairs, describing the situation as unfortunate.
“We are here to make sure schools are properly equipped with quality desks and chairs that they will not regret investing in,” he added.
Meanwhile, ISAMA President Bishop Wycliff Chimwendo urged private school owners to uphold professionalism in the management of their institutions.
He emphasized the importance of recruiting qualified and professional teachers and administrators who understand their roles.
Chimwendo also encouraged school owners to continuously improve infrastructure and empower their staff through better working conditions and support.
The Independent Schools Association of Malawi has been conducting divisional meetings in the Northern Education Division, Central East Division, Central West Division and South East Division. The meetings aim to discuss strategies for improving standards and professionalism in private schools across the country.
