The Malawi government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Malawian-owned, particularly women-led businesses, as Minister of Defence Feston Kaupa officially launched CTS Funeral Services in Lilongwe on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, Kaupa stated that the administration under President Arthur Peter Mutharika is committed to promoting homegrown enterprises that strengthen the economy, create jobs, and empower women entrepreneurs.
He described the launch as a positive sign of growth and diversification in Malawi’s private sector, noting that CTS’s expansion from courier services into funeral services responds to a sensitive but essential social need.
Kaupa commended CTS for designing affordable funeral packages accessible to all Malawians, regardless of income or social status, saying that dignified funeral services should not be reserved for the elite.
The minister further praised the initiative as a family-owned and women-led business, expressing hope that it would inspire more women and youth to venture into entrepreneurship with confidence.
He emphasized that competition from local businesses improves service delivery and affordability, adding that the government stands ready to support similar initiatives across sectors.
CTS Funeral Services General Manager Joseph Manda said the company is committed to providing professional, respectful, and nationwide funeral services that ease the burden on families during times of loss.
