Ndirande, previously associated with rampant cases of violence, is now setting a positive example, with domestic violence cases against women dropping.

Ndirande Police Station has recorded a 92.3 percent reduction in domestic violence cases against women.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Franz Zex Dzimbiri made the remarks as the station joined the country in celebrating Mother’s Day, reaffirming its commitment to protecting women and mothers from abuse.

He said the station’s Victim Support Unit (VSU) remains committed to responding to cases of domestic violence and supporting victims.

“Domestic violence does not only affect the victim. It traumatises children and destroys families. We encourage families to embrace respect, dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes,” said Dzimbiri.

He urged women experiencing abuse to report the cases to police instead of suffering in silence, while encouraging communities to report suspected abuse for timely intervention.

Dzimbiri also said the station continues to support female police officers through its Women’s Network, which provides mentorship, professional support and leadership development.

He said empowering female officers strengthens the police service’s ability to protect women and children.
