A postmortem examination has established that FDH Bank employee Tathokoza Salimu died from severe neck injuries.
According to the postmortem the injuries were sustained from a gunshot.
The examination found a penetrating neck injury that perforated the C2-C3 spine, consistent with a gunshot wound.
Dowa Police Station spokesperson Alice Sitima confirmed the development and said police have launched a manhunt for the suspected perpetrators.
Police have not yet disclosed the motive behind the shooting or identified any suspects.
Salimu was found dead on Monday inside her motor vehicle at Chinkhota Village near Tatolonga Bridge along the Dzaleka–Dowa Boma Road.
Her body was initially taken to Dowa District Hospital mortuary before being transferred to Mnthunzi Funeral Parlour in Lilongwe for a postmortem examination.
