Deported Nationals- Malawi24

Thirteen foreign nationals have been sent back to their countries of origin through Kamuzu International Airport after being found guilty of breaching Malawi’s immigration laws.

The Central Region Immigration Office confirmed that the deportation was carried out on Wednesday, September 09, 2026 following the completion of all legal and administrative procedures.

According to the Office, the group comprises 12 Ethiopian nationals and one Nigerian national identified as Christopher Joshua Egbo.

The 12 Ethiopians were arrested for illegally entering Malawi, contrary to Section 21(1) of the Immigration Act, while Egbo was apprehended for unlawfully residing in the country.

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services says all 13 have since been declared prohibited immigrants and are barred from re-entering Malawi in accordance with applicable laws.

The latest exercise comes barely a month after the Department deported 14 other foreign nationals in August for various immigration violations.

The department has since urged all foreign nationals residing in Malawi to ensure they have valid documents to avoid similar action.
