What was meant to be a simple reunion between a father and his daughter instead turned into a heartbreaking tragedy after first-year MUBAS student Catherine Mvula was reportedly hit by a vehicle at Ginery Corner in Blantyre.
Mvula, a first-year, first-semester student at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), was on Saturday afternoon reportedly crossing the road to meet her father.
Her father had travelled from Mzuzu to Blantyre to bring her essential items, unaware that the journey would end in devastating news.
Instead of welcoming his daughter and handing her the items he had carried for her, he was left facing the painful loss of his child.
Mvula, who was from Mzimba, had only just begun her university journey, with her future and dreams still ahead of her.
Her death has left fellow students and those close to her mourning the sudden loss.
Her body was taken to the College of Medicine Mortuary.
