Vanessa crowned Queen of the centre, CRNC eyes national glory for central teams

Vanessa Sisters have been crowned champions of the Central Region in the Mukuru Under-21 netball tournament, defeating Lioness 29-19 in the final at Don Bosco in Lilongwe.

Along with Lioness and Baby Eagles, they will represent the Central Region at the national stage. As winners, Vanessa Sisters received K1 million, with Lioness earning K700,000 and Baby Eagles K500,000.

The Northern Region finals are scheduled for this weekend, following the conclusion of the Southern Region competition.Central Region Netball Committee Chair Zikubwelera Washon expressed confidence in the region’s talent.

“We have seen great skill in our players, and we are encouraging them to work hard, the cup should come to the Central Region. The competition is fair, with prizes for the top four teams,” she said.

Mukuru Money Transfer Marketing and Partner Lead Taleetha Jussab praised the level of play and the tournament’s impact.

“We are very pleased with the talent on display. These girls are not only representing their families but also carrying the nation forward. Their performances inspire and motivate others,” she said, noting that weather interruptions had required some games to move indoors.
