Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and administrative leadership in Medical Services as appropriate, in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Perform physical examinations on patients, including solicitation and interpretation of medical tests to check for signs of disease, trauma, or other medical conditions.
  • Look into patients' medical history, diagnosis of medical conditions, provision of treatment plans to treat health conditions as well as provision of follow-up care.
  • Perform approved clinical procedures and manage common medical and surgical emergencies.
  • Conduct assessments, treatments, classification of injury, determination of fitness for duty and medical reports.
  • Coordinate chronic illness activities such as (HIV/TB//HBP/Diabetes) and their follow-up.
  • Participate in, and share responsibility for, the on-call emergency medical coverage at the hospital or clinic.
  • Oversee and monitor clinical services provided by the Clinicians.
  • Provide Medical Emergency Response and Preparedness Program oversight by liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide management and direct oversight over the Laboratory, Public Health and Radiology functions.
  • Promoting and adhering to Illovo's procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to HSE, Competitive Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

Job Requirements

  • Medical Degree (M.B.ChB)
  • Registered with the relevant Professional Medical Body.
  • 2-3 years of working experience in a similar Occupational Health environment.
  • Training in emergency medicine or emergency medical care.
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Certification in Occupational Health is an advantage.
  • Experience with surgical activities an added advantage.
