Molima Family Home in Dzalya Village, Dedza, will benefit from a fundraising initiative organized by Dedza Police Women’s Network to support orphans at the facility.
The event which took place Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Dedza Police Station, brought together police officers, spouses, community members and well-wishers who contributed a sum of 1.6 million towards the Network’s K3.5 million target.
Speaking during the event, Network Matron Senior Superintendent Cecilia Maloya said the money raised will go towards providing food, clothing and school materials for children at the home.
Maloya said the initiative demonstrates the commitment of police women to support vulnerable groups beyond their policing duties, and confirmed that pledges are still being received.
With K1.9 million still needed to reach the target, the Women’s Network has appealed to more well-wishers to come forward and support Molima Family Home.
Officer in Charge of Dedza Police Station, Assistant Commissioner Beston M’mangisa, commended the women for the gesture and encouraged community members to continue supporting vulnerable children.
Other dignitaries present included the District Commissioner, SEC Chairperson, Officer in Charge of Dedza Prison, and Group Village Head Kapalamula.
