Desperate graduates hoping to secure government internship placements are falling prey to a scam involving the sale of free application forms.
The Ministry of Labour, Skills and Innovation says some unscrupulous individuals are exploiting applicants for the 13th Cohort of the Graduate Internship Programme by charging them for forms that are meant to be issued free of charge.
In a statement released on Friday, the Ministry said it had noted with concern that some individuals were selling the forms to unsuspecting members of the public.
“The Ministry strongly condemns this fraudulent practice and urges all applicants to remain vigilant.
“Members of the public are advised to report any individual demanding payment for the application forms or any other part of the application process to the nearest police station or Ministry of Labour, Skills and Innovation office,” reads part of the statement.
The warning comes at a time when thousands of graduates are searching for work, making many vulnerable to scams that promise access to government opportunities.
The Ministry stressed that application forms for the Graduate Internship Programme are free of charge and should only be obtained through official channels.
It further reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a transparent, fair and accessible recruitment process for all eligible applicants.
