Malawian songstress Emmie Deebo has confirmed that she is now an independent artist after parting ways with her former management, Akometsi.
Rumours of the split began after Emmie and Akometsi reportedly unfollowed each other on social media. On Wednesday, Deebo appeared to confirm the development through a Facebook post.
She released a public notice announcing that all bookings, performance inquiries, collaborations, and official business communications should now be directed to new contacts under her own management.
“For all event bookings, appearances, performances, media inquiries, and business opportunities, kindly use the contacts above moving forward,” she said.
Additionally, on Thursday morning, the singer appeared to further confirm the development after greeting fans with a social media post that read: “Good morning from your favourite independent artist.”
Meanwhile, reactions have flooded social media following the announcement of Emmie Deebo’s new booking contacts, with fans sharply divided over her decision to go independent.
Some fans applauded the singer for taking charge of her career, describing the move as bold and empowering. “She is finally building her own empire,” wrote one fan.
However, others feared the split from Akometsi could negatively affect her career, with some predicting it may mark the beginning of a downfall.
“She won’t be the same, surely the ex-management will close all markets for her and that’s the downfall of the Mwenemutapa kingdom,” commented another follower.
Others also suspected that there could be deeper, unresolved issues behind the sudden fallout between Emmie and Akometsi.
Akometsi has not yet publicly commented on the matter.
