Malawi’s Flames are set for a crucial test as they begin their bid to return to Africa’s biggest football stage.
The Malawi National Football Team, will begin their journey to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with back-to-back qualifying matches against South Sudan and Angola.
According to the fixtures released for the qualifiers, Malawi will first take on South Sudan on 25 September 2026 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
The Flames will then face Angola on 6 October 2026 at Estádio 11 de Novembro in Angola.
The two matches will mark the start of Malawi’s campaign to secure qualification for the 2027 AFCON finals, with the team expected to battle for a place at the continental tournament.
Football fans will be hoping the Flames can make a strong start in their quest to return to the Africa Cup of Nations stage.
The home match against South Sudan is expected to give Malawian supporters an opportunity to rally behind the national team as the qualifying campaign gets underway.
