He may have hoped for a better reception, but it has turned into a self-inflicted disaster as furious fans have grabbed rapper S-Khrizzy by the neck over his controversial song targeting Scorchers star Temwa Chawinga.
The track, titled “Temwa Chawinga,” from his latest album 22, has sparked outrage among football fans and social media users, who accuse the rapper of body-shaming and insulting one of Malawi’s biggest sporting stars.
Instead of winning praise, S-Khrizzy has found himself at the centre of a storm, with angry fans questioning why he chose to use his music to ridicule a woman who has repeatedly put Malawi on the international football map.
One of the strongest reactions came from football fan Arkangel Woyera Tembo, who accused S-Khrizzy of wasting his talent by attacking Chawinga.
“You had the same 24 hours Temwa uses to train and win. You chose to sit in a studio and waste bars, beats, and breath to ridicule her,” Tembo wrote.
“That’s not music. That’s jealousy with a beat. That’s not artistry. That’s pettiness with autotune.”
Tembo went on to list Chawinga’s achievements, including her Golden Boot successes and recognition in the NWSL, arguing that her achievements have made her a source of pride and inspiration for Malawians.
Content creator Tamia Ja has also expressed her anger, saying she is heading into the studio to record a song targeting S-Khrizzy.
“Lelo ndikupita ku studio. Ndikukalemba nyimbo yomunyoza mfanayi,” she wrote.
However, another social media user Dir Fuego, cautioned against emotional calls for the rapper’s arrest, saying people should first establish whether the song actually violates any law.
The song has now raised a wider debate about artistic freedom, insults and the limits of using public figures as subjects in music.
Meanwhile, some social media users have gone as far as calling for his arrest, while others have launched fierce verbal attacks against the rapper.
