Nokwazi And Rasheed- Malawi24

Deportation separated them from South Africa, but love pulled them together in Malawi as South African woman Ncuku Nokwazi followed her Malawian lover Rasheed across the border, only to shock everyone by sealing their romance in a Nikah ceremony.

Nokwazi and Rasheed were living together in South Africa when xenophobic attacks targeting foreign nationals forced Rasheed to return to Malawi through the government’s voluntary repatriation exercise.

Rather than ending their relationship, Nokwazi travelled to Malawi to join Rasheed in his home district of Mangochi.

The couple has now taken their relationship a step further, with Nokwazi embracing Islam and officially becoming Rasheed’s wife through a Nikah ceremony
.
Nokwazi shared the news on social media on Sunday following the ceremony, announcing that she was now married to Rasheed.

“Finally, I’m married. I’m Rasheed’s wife now,” she wrote.

Their story has since become a widely discussed cross border love story, with the couple now beginning a new chapter together in Malawi.
