Barely days after Malawi24 highlighted his plight, third-year MUBAS student Bornwell Paul has received relief after well-wishers stepped in to support him.
Paul, a Business Studies and Computer Science student at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), had an outstanding tuition balance of K402,000 after failing to secure a Higher Education Students’ Loans and Grants Board loan this year.
To raise money for the first semester, Paul sold his personal computer and managed to pay K250,000 and he was left with a deficit of K402,000, which nearly stopped him from registering for the next semester.
The student said the situation affected his studies because he had no laptop to use for assignments and research.
“Basically, in terms of reading and assignments it becomes a problem because using a cell phone is hard,” he said earlier.
But in a follow-up, Paul confirmed that his fees have now been fully paid.
A receipt dated 14th August 2026 from MUBAS shows that K402,000 was received in payment of his fees balance.
Speaking after the development, Paul expressed gratitude to all those who responded to his appeal.
He said the support has given him hope to continue with his education without interruption.
