People in Hengzhou, a city in southern China with about 1 million people, are scared after floods brought hundreds of snakes into their neighborhoods.
About 900 snakes are now moving around the city with many of them believed to be poisonous.
According to state media, this happened after a tropical storm named “Typhoon Maysak” caused heavy flooding and the floods have already killed 39 people.
Officials believe most of the snakes came from reptile farms that were flooded.
State media also says several other people have been bitten and one woman has died after being bitten by a snake, possibly a cobra.
At first, Chinese authorities said there was no big problem but now they are telling people to stay away from the snakes.
They have sent snake catchers to the area and hospitals are also getting more antivenom ready in case more people are bitten.
Other animals also escaped from a zoo in the area during the floods, including two zebras, one humpback ox, three small horses, and two donkeys.
People in Hengzhou have been warned to be careful as the flood cleanup continues.
