The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has dismissed claims by the Solidarity Alliance Party (SAP) that the two parties are in a political alliance.
In an official statement released by DPP National Publicity Secretary Shadric Namalomba the Party said it has no alliance, no agreement, no memorandum of understanding, and no ongoing negotiations with SAP.
“The claim is a fabrication, plain and simple. SAP’s statement is a calculated deception designed to mislead Malawians and manufacture a false sense of legitimacy by associating itself with the ruling party,” the statementreads.
The reaction follows an earlier statement by SAP claiming a political alliance with the DPP.
He described SAP’s move as desperate political opportunism by a party that has never contested an election, won a parliamentary seat, or proven itself in national service.
The statement said any genuine coalition would be announced through proper party structures and communicated directly to the nation, not through dubious press releases from a party with no electoral footprint.
The statement further urged the public and media to dismiss the claim, and called on SAP to withdraw the statement and offer an apology to the DPP and the people of Malawi.
The party emphasized that it remains united and focused on serving the people of Malawi, and will not be distracted by baseless propaganda
