Upcoming musicians have been handed an opportunity to break into the music industry after Warge Records opened its latest “Mkulukuta Moyo” riddim to emerging artists in a move aimed at discovering hidden talent.
The label initially planned to feature established artists, but the decision was changed to give vulnerable and emerging artists a platform.
Through its guiding force, Wanangwa Phiri, Warge Records told Malawi24 that the project will act as a bridge for artists to demonstrate their skills.
Although the riddim was originally slated to feature well-known acts such as Malinga Mafia, Sean Morgan, and Chizmo, the label opened the project to new talent to expand opportunities.
While the project is open to all, Warge Records said it will strictly prioritize high-quality artists. The label also plans to incorporate VJ Ken to shoot a clean video medley.
Already lined up to bless the riddim are Spaitai, Kapadocia, Kasir Blanka, Kay Stevoh, Khingi, Chibelekero, Ndaxy Vee, Black Daniel, Real Maovololo, and Mabilinganya Empire.
Warge Records previously proved its impact in 2012 when it produced the Itchoke Itchoke riddim, which helped pave the way for artists such as Malinga, Atoth Manje and Roy View, among others.
The label has also been associated with the late Mafunyeta as a producer.
