Chuck Norris, the legendary martial artist and actor, has died. He passed away yesterday morning, his family confirmed in a statement released today.

“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning,” the statement read. The family noted that while they wish to keep the circumstances private, Norris was “surrounded by his family and was at peace” in his final moments.

Norris, widely recognized as a global icon of strength and resilience, built a remarkable career spanning martial arts, film, and television. To millions, he was a symbol of discipline and toughness. However, his family emphasized that his greatest role was within the home.

“To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength,” the statement continued. “To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family.”

The family highlighted Norris’s lifelong commitment to faith, purpose, and compassion. They credited his work ethic and kindness with inspiring generations of fans across the globe, many of whom followed his career for decades.

The statement also acknowledged the widespread concern following reports of Norris’s recent hospitalization, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support from fans worldwide.

“To him, you were not just fans, you were his friends,” the family wrote.

As tributes begin to emerge from across the entertainment and martial arts communities, the Norris family has asked for privacy as they mourn their loss.

“While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and for the unforgettable moments we were blessed to share with him,” the statement concluded.

In Malawi, he was regarded as one of the most popular Hollywood actors, with his films widely embraced by audiences. Notably, music from The Delta Force was used as a campaign theme by Lazarus Chakwera during his unsuccessful 2025 re-election bid—highlighting Norris’s unexpected cultural influence beyond cinema.

Throughout his career, Chuck Norris worked alongside some of the most iconic figures in action cinema, including Bruce Lee, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, and Jason Statham.

Born on March 10, 1940, Norris was 86 years old at the time of his passing. He was a highly accomplished martial artist, holding black belts in karate, taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and judo. After serving in the United States Air Force, Norris’s career took a major turn when his friend and fellow martial artist Bruce Lee invited him to play a key villain in The Way of the Dragon (1972).

Beyond entertainment, Norris was also known for his outspoken political views as a conservative and his advocacy for faith-based values, which he often spoke about publicly.

Chuck Norris died on the morning of March 19, 2026, at the age of 86.
