POSITION: FINANCIAL CONTROLLER (ACCOUNTANT)

Location: Lilongwe

OVERVIEW

We are looking for a mature, highly experienced and dependable individual to join our team as a Financial Controller. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in accounting and financial management, with the ability to independently oversee the financial operations of multiple businesses.

They should be self-motivated, organised, trustworthy and capable of exercising sound financial judgement while carrying out their responsibilities with minimal supervision.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Qualification & Experience Required:

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in accounting and financial management.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA or ICAM will be a strong advantage.
• Candidates must have a thorough understanding of Malawian taxation and statutory requirements, excellent Microsoft Excel skills, and proficiency in recognised accounting software.
• Previous experience managing the accounts of multiple businesses will be an added advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities across multiple businesses.
• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management accounts.
• Managing cash flow, budgets, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable.
• Ensuring compliance with all statutory and tax obligations, including VAT, PAYE and withholding tax.
• Maintaining accurate financial records, general ledgers and accounting systems.
• Monitoring expenditure, financial performance and profitability across the businesses.
• Preparing financial reports and providing financial advice to management.
• Establishing and maintaining effective internal financial controls and accounting procedures.
• Overseeing payroll administration and ensuring timely processing of financial obligations.
