Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has advanced to the semifinals of the FIFA Club World Cup, defeating Bayern Munich 2-0 in a thrilling match. Despite being reduced to nine men, the reigning UEFA Champions League winners secured their win to progress to the semi-finals, avenging their 2020 UCL final loss.
The match was intense, with both teams creating scoring opportunities. However, it was PSG who struck first, with Desire Doue scoring the game’s opening goal in the 78th minute. Doue’s precise shot beat Manuel Neuer at the near post, giving PSG a crucial lead.
Bayern pushed hard for an equalizer, but PSG’s defense held strong. The team’s resilience was put to the test when Willian Pacho earned a straight red card four minutes after Doue’s goal for a reckless tackle on Leon Goretzka. Despite being reduced to 10 men, PSG continued to threaten Bayern’s goal.
In stoppage time, PSG’s Lucas Hernandez was also given a red card, leaving PSG with just nine players on the pitch. Ousmane Dembélé finished off an Achraf Hakimi move for the second PSG goal to seal the win in the last minutes of added time of the game.
The match was marked by a moment of silence held before the game to honor Diogo Jota and André Silva. Dembele paid tribute to Jota after scoring the winning goal, celebrating with Jota’s FIFA signature move.
Bayern’s Jamal Musiala suffered a significant ankle injury in the first half and was stretchered off.
With this win, PSG advances to the semifinals of the FIFA Club World Cup, where they will face the winner of the match between Real Madrid and Dortmund, scheduled for tonight at 22:00.
