Vice President Saulos Chilima says he is confident of victory in 2019 since he is always on the winning side.
Speaking after a UTM rally at Khonjeni Primary School Ground in Thyolo today, Chilima said he is positive people who have listened to his policies will choose him in next year’s presidential elections.
He added that he is happy that he rallies are attracting many people and the only challenge is for UTM leaders to turn the rally-goers into votes.
“We are positive that with the message we are delivering, people who are coming to our rallies will become UTM members and next year they will vote us.
“I am confident UTM will win the polls next year because I am always on the winning side, I have never been on the losing side,” Chilima said.
He added that he will deliver the promises he makes during his rallies and he will continue making the promises without fear or doubt.
In his speech during the rally, Chilima condemned some local leaders for stopping people from attending the UTM rally.
He also urged all Malawians to live together in harmony saying no tribe is more popular or important than other tribes. Chilima added that he wants all Malawians to prosper, not just a certain group of people.
Speaking earlier, UTM chairperson Noel Masangwi condemned President Peter Mutharika for increasing prices of subsidised fertilizer saying many people in villages end up selling their coupons to buy food.
He also accused Mutharika of failing to grasp the extent of challenges people in Thyolo are facing and urged residents of the district to vote for Chilima next year.
