A 32-year-old man and his girlfriend have been found dead at their home in Chiwere Village, Machinjiri, Blantyre, in a tragic incident that has left the community shocked.
Ndirande Police spokesperson Chibisa Mulimbika has confirmed that Wisdon Linje was found hanging from a rope in the bedroom at around 2am, while his girlfriend, Jane Kanama, was found unconscious on the bed.
According to Mulimbika, the two were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced them dead upon arrival.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the couple had reportedly been having disagreements over how Kanama was spending money that Linje had been sending her.
Police also say Linje had returned from Dubai only three days before the incident.
During a search of the bedroom, police recovered a bottle containing an unidentified substance and some pills.
The items have since been taken for forensic examination as investigations continue.
