Ansah calls for structured oversight of industrial incentives at Lakeshore Summit

Ansah advocates for structured oversight of industrial incentives at Lakeshore Summit.

Vice President Jane Ansah called for enhanced transparency and accountability in the administration of industrial incentives stating that well-defined frameworks are fundamental to fostering trust across public and private sectors.

She was speaking on Thursday while opening the 2026 Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) Lakeshore Business Leaders Summit in Mangochi which was held under the theme “Leading with purpose: Harnessing the power of transparency and accountability.”

Ansah stressed that structured, sustainable partnerships between government and business are vital for national progress.

She also highlighted that government remains focused on fostering an enabling environment where both sectors can drive transformation.

She noted that under President Peter Mutharika’s leadership, Malawi’s development strategy continues to prioritize transparency, accountability, and inclusive economic growth as foundations for national change.

“Industrialisation must move beyond ambition and it must deliver measurable results,” Ansah said.

She added that lasting progress depends on solid collaboration between government and the private sector, and that industrial incentives require clear, accountable frameworks to be effective.

MCCCI President Wisely Phiri welcomed the Vice President’s message, pointing out that inconsistent regulations and unpredictable incentive approvals have raised the cost of doing business in Malawi.

He agreed that closer government-private sector cooperation is crucial to advancing the country’s development goals.
