Malawian bodybuilder Wellington “Bulldozer” Mwangonde has officially qualified to compete in the IFBB PRO Classic Physique category at The Austrian Oak 2026, slated for August 22–23 at the Marx Halle in Vienna.
This marks the second time the former Mr. Malawi has earned the right to represent his country at the prestigious international bodybuilding show.
Currently preparing in Germany, Mwangonde says his focus is entirely on physical conditioning.
“I am in the kitchen cooking my body,” the athlete shared via a telephone interview.
He also used the opportunity to call on Malawians to recognize the magnitude of the event and step forward to support his campaign.
The Malawi Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (MBFA) has commended Mwangonde’s latest qualification.
However, MBFA General Secretary Aaron Simwaka noted that the athlete’s success highlights a broader need for systemic backing.
“This is high time the government and other stakeholders should invest in bodybuilding proportionate to the support other sports receive,” said Simwaka.
