For families struggling to keep their children in school due to rising education costs, relief has come after 500 full-tuition scholarship slots have been opened.
Applications have officially opened for 500 full-tuition scholarships under Maranatha Academy ‘s K12 billion programme aimed at helping secondary school students complete their education without the burden of school fees.
The scholarship programme, launched for the 2026/2027 academic year, will support learners from Form 1 to Form 4 drawn from public, private and grant-aided schools across the country.
Each successful applicant will receive a scholarship worth K24 million, covering tuition costs throughout their studies.
Managing Director Dr Enerst Kaonga said the application window is now open and students are encouraged to submit their applications.
“The programme has started now. We have opened the application window and we intend to support 500 students with full tuition,” said Kaonga.
He said the scholarships are also open to students already enrolled at Maranatha Academy.
According to Kaonga, the initiative is intended to ensure that financial challenges do not stand in the way of learners who want to pursue their education.
With the cost of education continuing to rise, the programme is expected to offer a lifeline to hundreds of families while creating opportunities for more young people to remain in school and pursue their future ambitions.
Meanwhile, education expert Wesley Mwambakulu has hailed the school’s gesture, saying it will provide learners from underprivileged backgrounds with an opportunity to access quality education and improve their future prospects.
