Chairperson of Zomba District Council, Baster Chirwa, has praised various development projects taking place in all wards of the district.
Chirwa made these remarks during a full council meeting attended by councillors, Zomba District Council Senior Officials and organizations, where development matters and reports were discussed.
He said that the cooperation between councillors and senior officials of the Zomba Council is what has enabled development projects to take place across all areas.

However, the Council Chairperson urged senior officials working for the Zomba Council to ensure that staff for public service facilities such as hospitals and schools are identified in advance whenever such facilities are constructed in communities, because sometimes workers delay reporting to those areas.
“It was a successful full council meeting, and the reports were approved, which shows that the Council is making progress in matters of development,” he said.
Speaking at the same meeting, Ganizani Malishe, Councillor for Namadzi Ward in Zomba Changalume, appealed to the Zomba Council to support Mwanoka Community Day Secondary School by constructing classrooms for Forms 3 and 4. He said this was necessary to accommodate students who pass their Form 2 examinations, as the school will face a shortage of classroom space when it opens.
He also appealed to well-wishers and organizations to help Mwanoka Community Day Secondary School by building offices and teachers’ houses.
In his remarks, Senior Chief Mlumbe praised the meeting for discussing development issues aimed at improving Zomba, and he hailed the cooperation that exists between councillors and senior officials working for the Zomba District Council as key to successful developments projects in the district.
