The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has declared that President Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM) will complete all development projects in Mzimba District abandoned by the previous Malawi Congress Party (MCP) administration, with Mombera University topping the list.
DPP Northern Region Governor Reverend Christopher Mzomera Ngwira made the declaration during a strategic meeting held at Jenda with DPP’s district and constituency governors.
Ngwira, who also serves as Presidential Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs, said the DPP administration remains committed to addressing Malawi’s Fuel, Forex, Food and Fertilizer fuel crises which he described as the cornerstone of President Peter Mutharika’s strategy to stabilise and revive the national economy.
The DPP regional governor whose wife, Martha Mzomera Ngwira, is Malawi’s Deputy Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare, urged party grassroots structures to remain active and vigilant in strengthening the party’s political base across Malawi. He also warned against complacency and called for close monitoring to prevent alleged abuse of the K5 billion Constituency Development Fund allocation.
Member of Parliament for Mzimba Luwerezi, Fischer Canaan Nkhwazi, also addressed the meeting and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the DPP development agenda in Malawi. Nkhwazi, who was elected as an independent legislator before joining the DPP, said he is fully dedicated to working with the party in delivering meaningful development projects to the people of Mzimba and the country at large.
