Eight nabbed for fake MSCE certificates, jobs in Lilongwe- Malawi24

Eight men are in custody in Lilongwe for running a fake job recruitment scheme and selling forged MSCE certificates to defraud job seekers.

The group allegedly posed as government recruiters and ran fake interviews at Royal Gardens in Area 18, advertising vacancies for messengers, soldiers, health surveillance assistants, and drivers that didn’t exist.

Investigation has revealed that the suspects were producing fake MSCE certificates in the name of Tsokamkanansi Community Day Secondary School for unqualified applicants.

Following a tip-off from the public, Lingadzi Police seized forged appointment letters and certificates at the scene and said more charges of fraud and impersonation are expected.

Police say victims paid between K230,000 and K600,000 to secure the positions.

Police are urging job seekers to verify recruitment notices directly with government ministries and to report suspicious offers.
