Chikwawa Civil Society Organization Network (CSON) has condemned the rising cases of barbaric killings of innocent people, connecting them to false allegations of having a hand in the disappearance of private parts in Ngabu in Chikwawa and Nsanje districts.
According to the press release issued by the Network, the acts are barbaric and have called the community to stop taking the law into their own hands noting that the attacks are unlawful, inhumane, and a violation of human dignity.
‘The Network calls upon the Malawi Police Service and all security agencies to continue intensifying investigations, increasing security and continuing to arrest all those involved,..” reads part of the release.
As part of efforts in supporting the stoppage of brutal mass killings, the Network has embarked on awareness and peace sensitisation campaigns across the district to promote peace and order and the rule of law.
The concern comes after six were killed in Traditional Authority Ngabu accusing them of being involved in the mysterious disappearance of private parts of some individuals.
Police have so far arrested over 40 people in connection with the murder.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Noel Kayira said all the nabbed suspects will face murder charges.
