Sambo says the two have agreed to settle their dispute behind closed doors — Bushiri yet to comment
Peter Sambo, the Nottingham based former ECG member who has been at the centre of a social media dispute with Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, says the two Malawians have now made amends and agreed to settle their differences behind closed doors.
Sambo is one of Malawi’s renowned musicians whose song Tachilowa Chaka China continues to be a New Year’s anthem in clubs, TV and radio stations across the country.
Bushiri, on the other hand, is one of the world’s most recognised prophets and business figures, with ministry and business outlets spanning Africa and Asia. He is the founder of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG), the Jesus Nation Church.
The public dispute between the two high-profile Malawians had attracted significant attention both locally and internationally.
“PEACE BE STILL! I can now announce that we have come to an agreement to put our differences aside and settle our dispute behind closed doors. I will make a statement tonight at 7 PM to put the last nail on the casket,” Sambo wrote on his Facebook page.
Bushiri has not commented on Sambo’s announcement.
The development comes after Bushiri, through his UK lawyers Batesi Bagonenge Lawyers, sent Sambo a cease and desist letter on 15 April 2026 demanding he delete all Facebook posts described as defamatory, libellous and amounting to harassment, publish a full written apology and pay £50,000 in compensation, about K120 million. Malawi24 was the first to report the legal action.
Sambo had publicly refused to retreat and was relentlessly going on Bushiri on social media before today’s announcement. The terms of the agreement between the two have not been disclosed. Sambo promised to shed more light on the matter during his Facebook live.
Malawi24 will update this story following Sambo’s live stream.
