Malawian socialite under fire after allegedly calling God ‘Stupid’ on Facebook
A controversial social media exchange involving Malawian socialite Tamia Ja, real name Hanna Jabesi, a female figure known for wearing male attributes, has sparked backlash in Malawi.
The furor was ignited after she allegedly wrote, in reply to her Facebook follower, “You can also tell God is stupid,” a remark that circulated widely via Facebook screenshots and angered several of believers.
In the wake of the post, followers criticized the statement.
When one commenter suggested God would use her to preach, Tamia, who is in her mid-twenties, allegedly rejected the idea and instead countered that God should focus on caring for innocent children suffering from cancer.
As the debate intensified, the dispute drew comments from Prophet Sanders, who warned believers that “God can never be mocked” and urged people to choose their battles wisely.
Still, Tamia seemed unfazed, as if the warnings were just wind against a wall, clarifying that she would not be pressured by others.
She clarified her stance on Facebook on Thursday, saying, “No one can force me to believe in anything because you were told religion is taught. That’s why there are so many different ones, each with its own beliefs. I choose to believe in Almighty God, not in religion.”
Despite her explanation, many users in the largely faith-driven community are said to be giving the content creator a “side eye,” with debate continuing like smoke that keeps spreading, and the issue far from settling.
