Amid a crippling fuel crisis disrupting businesses and daily life across Malawi, Speaker of Parliament Sameer Suleman has urged citizens to remain hopeful, saying President Peter Mutharika will not fail.
In a Facebook message, Suleman expressed confidence in President Mutharika, describing him as a capable leader who understands the country’s challenges.
“My fellow Malawians, don’t lose hope. The leadership is doing all it can to make Malawi better again. We have a leader who knows what to do and is working tirelessly to achieve a better Malawi. Trust the process, this fuel problem is temporal and solutions are underway,” said Suleman.
Suleman further praised Mutharika as a steady and dependable leader, saying that while individuals may falter, he believes the Malawi leader has the wisdom and resolve to guide the country through challenges, urging Malawians not to panic.
“I can fail but APM can’t fail, trust this. Don’t panic, we shall overcome this.
APM is so wise.”His remarks come at a time when long queues at fueling stations across the country have become the order of the day, although some service stations continue to operate with limited supplies.
On Tuesday, government spokesperson and Minister of Information Shadric Namalomba confirmed to local media that the country is running critically low on fuel stocks, including strategic reserves, confirming the severity of the situation.
The ongoing shortage has strained transport services and slowed business operations.
