A truck has crashed into the Malawi Revenue Authority office at the One Stop Border Post in Mwanza, causing significant damage to the building.
The incident occurred when the driver, Basilo Cardiso, a Mozambican national, lost control of the vehicle while transporting goods from Zobue to Mwanza.
Cardiso, who works for C/O Horecean in Tete, Mozambique, is seriously injured, and the front of the truck is severely damaged. Police spokesperson Hope Kasakula confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
The crash has raised concerns about safety and security at the border post, which is a critical hub for trade and commerce in the region.
The Malawi Revenue Authority has not yet commented on the extent of the damage or the impact on operations.
