FCB Nyasa Big Bullets coach Gilbert Chirwa has moved to draw a line under last season’s defeats to Mighty Wanderers ahead of Saturday’s NBS Charity Shield at Bingu National Stadium.
The People’s Team enters the season opener still reflecting on a difficult run against their rivals last season, where Wanderers claimed three wins in their head-to-head meetings.
Chirwa said those results belong to the past and will not define his team’s approach to the new campaign.
“This is a new year, we are ready,” said Chirwa.
Bullets, the most successful side in Charity Shield history, will be aiming to maintain their long-standing dominance in the competition.
Wanderers, however, continue to chase a first title in the contest despite repeated appearances in the season curtain-raiser.
Chirwa pointed to squad improvements and tactical adjustments made during pre-season as key factors in his team’s preparation.
He added that the focus has been on rebuilding confidence and correcting mistakes exposed in last season’s meetings with their arch-rivals.
