Rose John Mpale, a resident of Bangwe, has expressed outrage and disappointment after a group of protesters, mistakenly identifying her neighbour, Chiku, as a suspect in a murder case, vandalized her property and stole valuable belongings.
The protesters, angered by the death of a local resident, reportedly went on a rampage, destroying property and looting belongings of people living in the area, including Mayi Mpale’s household.

“Why should I be punished for something I know nothing about?” she lamented, questioning the logic behind the attack on her property.
The mob’s actions included smashing windows, demolishing a house belonging to Mayi Mpale’s son, and making off with all the clothes and other valuables inside.
The incident has left the community in a state of panic, with residents fearing for their safety and security.
The attack on Mayi Mpale’s property appears to be a case of mistaken identity, with Mr. Chiku being wrongly accused of involvement in the murder.
The incident highlights the dangers of mob justice and the devastating consequences of acting on unverified information.
The authorities have yet to comment on the incident, but residents are calling for calm and urging the police to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The people of Bangwe are left wondering what they can do to prevent such incidents in the future and how to ensure that justice is served without resorting to violence.
