Leader of the House of Parliament Jappie Mhango has closed the Budget Meeting of Parliament, highlighting accountability and oversight as key themes of the session.
He said the House had not only passed laws but actively interrogated government performance through questions, reports, and urgent debates.
Key issues included fuel supply challenges, rising insecurity, disaster impacts and concerns over public fund management.
“This House has proved that it is not merely a spectator to the Executive’s plans,” Mhango said, emphasizing parliamentary scrutiny.
Lawmakers adopted multiple committee reports and reviewed delegated oversight missions from regional and continental engagements.
The House also processed subsidiary legislation tied to mining regulation, foreign exchange policy and public sector reforms.
Mhango concluded by moving adjournment sine die, saying Parliament had strengthened its role in safeguarding public interest.
