A Malawi security guard suspected of murdering a university student and dumping her body metres from their shared home has been arrested after a six-day manhunt that stretched across the country, Malawi police have confirmed.
Shadrick Clever, 26, was apprehended at around 11:00 PM on April 9, 2026, in Chilipa, Mangochi — more than 300 kilometres from Lilongwe, where the crime took place. He had been working as a security guard at Longways Construction Company in the capital.

His alleged victim, Lizzie Nyson, was a third-year student at Lake Malawi Anglican University. The two had been sharing a residence in Lilongwe at the time of her death — a detail that has shocked fellow students and raised urgent questions about safety for young women in Malawi.
