Mighty Wanderers are hoping for an excellent season ahead, banking on fresh ideas and international exposure as head coach Bob Mpinganjira leaves the country this afternoon for a three-week capacity building programme in the United Kingdom.

According to the team’s statement, the coach will be attached to Partick Thistle Football Club in Glasgow, where he is expected to gain hands-on experience in modern football practices, including player development, training methodologies, match preparation and coaching philosophy.

Wanderers board member responsible for football development, David Kanyenda, said the initiative is part of a broader vision by club president Dr Thomson Mpinganjira to transform the club into a professionally run institution.

“As you heard from the Club President during the presidential ball, the head coach will learn various technical aspects that will help improve the team’s performance and align us with international standards,” said Kanyenda.

Kanyenda added that the programme is aimed at empowering the technical panel to deliver results while strengthening both the technical and administrative structures of the club.

Meanwhile, Partick Thistle Football Club have welcomed Mpinganjira, describing his visit as part of their Coach Education and Professional Development programme.

Sporting director Ian Baraclough said the club is ready to provide a platform for knowledge exchange.

“We are pleased to host Coach Bob so that he can observe and engage with our coaching staff, gain insight into our philosophy, and participate in sessions covering player development, training methodologies and club operations,” said Baraclough.

He expressed confidence that the programme will contribute to Mpinganjira’s growth while fostering stronger ties between the two clubs.

The coach was seen off at Kamuzu International Airport by several club officials, including Kanyenda, Christopher Gondwe, national supporters chairperson Mervin Nkunika, and administration officer Davie Chilupsya.
