FDH Bank honours standout netball stars

FDH Bank Plc has celebrated the dedication, talent, and hard work of netball players who lit up the FDH Premier Netball League since its launch last August.

The awards ceremony, held at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) Sports Complex, recognized athletes who not only thrilled fans with their skills but also inspired young aspiring players across the nation.

Champions Blue Eagles dominated the awards, with Madano Thepeteya named Best Coach and Takondwa Lwazi awarded Best Centre, each taking home K300,000. Civonets also shone, as Martha Dambo claimed Best Defender and Cynthia Khunga was named Best Shooter, also receiving K300,000 each.

Emerging talent Edna Julius of Lioness was recognized as the Most Upcoming Player, pocketing K300,000, while Vanessa Sisters’ Mphatso Banda earned Most Valuable Player, receiving K500,000 for her stellar season.

Speaking during the awards ceremony, FDH Bank Plc Managing Director Noel Mkulichi urged players to remain disciplined and committed to their talent. “Your talent is a gift, but your longevity is a choice. Maintain a professional diet, and stay committed to your exercise regimes,” he said.

Blue Eagles coach Madano Thepeteya expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance after winning two awards and the championship title. “As a team, we are happy. Through our coordination we have managed to win two awards and championship title,” said Thepeteya while commending FDH Bank’s sponsorship for helping showcase young talent.

The ceremony also honored media professionals who covered the league exceptionally, with awards going to Solomon Manda (Best Print Reporter), Madalisto Nkhoma (Best Online Reporter), Foster Mkwamba (Best Radio Reporter), Yasin Limu (Best TV Reporter), and Mibawa TV (Best Media House).
