The new Officer-in-Charge (O/C) for Ndirande police, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Franz Dzimbiri, has emphasized the importance of professionalism among officers, outlining his agenda to uphold the highest standards of conduct.
Dzimbiri stressed this during his first lecture with officers on Friday March 13, 2026, that officers need to adhere to the Professional Standards Unit (PSU) guidelines, focusing on honesty, integrity, accountability, and impartiality.
He encouraged officers to familiarize themselves with the Police Code of Ethics and the Police Act, which include the principles of Proportionality, Legality, Accountability, and Necessity (PLAN) as key to staying within the rules of engagement.
Dzimbiri also urged crime investigation officers to use proper charges and work closely with prosecutors to avoid lawsuits and ensure suspects’ rights are protected.
Dzimbiri encouraged officers to report security snippets to their heads, avoid politics, and prioritize saving money by joining the Malawi Police Sacco.
Senior Resident Magistrate Mercy Bonongwe was present during the gathering, where she praised Ndirande police custody management for practicing recommended guidelines that uphold the rights of suspects, during a cell visit at the station.
